I just got a new computer and after runnin it for about a week programs stopped operating... i mean i would open them and nothing would happen... program files, installation files and such... some proggies do run tho... WinAmp, windows media player... I was wondering if anybody had this experience... how can i solve it without reformatting

well... you didn't really go into details, so I suggest you start by doing a virus scan and an adware scan (see the faq).

Just to be sure, reboot.

Next are virus and adware checks.

Next check anything that you have changed recently.
New software, new hardware, patches, Windows fixes, or anything also that is new around the time that you started getting the errors are suspect for having caused the error. Also check to see if you are doing anything different. Keeping the programs in different locations, new users on pc, or having changed the rights of a user.

Run a checkdisk, found by right clicking the harddrive and then oing to tools. Set it to do a full check and autofix errors. It should ask you to reboot since windows is using some files when you do this to c:. Nexyt defragment using disk defragmenter from system tools.

Once you have determined that none of the above are the source or solution of the probelms it is time to try reinstalling programs and adding patches programs and Windows.
