Just wondering what CFM files are, i noticed a website i went to used them.

My best guess is that they are coldfusion files?

If thats the case im wonder what is coldfusion, is it server side scripting?
Why would you use it, is there any reason to?
Is it any good?

Thanks for any input everyone

Ok i guess my question wasnt asked the best (as straight after i posted it i went and did some research, silly habbit i have hehe)

I guess now that i know a little about it my question is...

I know php quite and use its lots for all of my serverside/database/forms etc. I'm just wondering if there is any NEED to learn coldfusion, am i missing out on anything - is it an up and coming new standard or is it dying out?

Thanks.

if you are a php coder already, I think your time would be better spent on honing your php skills and picking up (or improving) java programming.

Cold Fusion is rapidly fading while php and java use is increasing.
