MicroSoft launched its new MSN Search site. The page have a really nice design, but heavily rely on JavaScript which is counter productive for a search engine supposed to help people and be accessible. But another thing puzzles me, and rather makes me laugh. Look at the very first tag : the HTML one.

code:
<html language="javascript">

It seems they don't even know how to do a correct HTML element in HTML 4.01.

In case they update their page, here is an archived version of it.

It seems like a very nice layout, although I do believe GOOGLE is the one who puts up pictures relating to certain special dates Next thing you know they'll have a button that says "I sense luck ahead" or something.

o.O That is madness, heh.

On top of that, I believe it's more correct to say type="text/javascript" or type="application/x-javascript" than language="javascript". Whatever the case, we all know how standards-compliant Microsoft is, heh.

It does look like they're trying to steal Google's ideas

rofl

It always makes me shrug in confusion that Microsoft doesn't use standard code, when it was such a large contributer to it!

well unless they were 15 hours behind me then sure that could be it but even if they're on the west coast it wouldn't be 15 hours

I think they're probably hosted in Redmond WA, so that'd be GMT -8, -5 from the east coast of America, -9 hours from Germany, and about -14 hours from Japan and Australia ...I think.

I probably got atleast one of those wrong. And it was probably the most simple one to know.
