I think you need a web host which supports streaming.

The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.

Dreamhost supports streaming quicktime, but not live broadcasts. Media has to be prepared in advance with hinting - I presume this requirement is because hinted media is far more efficient.

No doubt other ISPs have policies similar. Just knew about this one.

I too have been looking into a once a week live broadcast type thing and normally the prices are horrendous - this is because of the server load and bandwidth required for listeners - prices usually start for as low as 25 consecutive listeners and that was something like £500 a month at the place I was looking (not sure where now - I just ruled it out straight away lol).

Since the prices are so phenomenol, the only possible solution I found was peercast - basically it uses a p2p system to share bandwidth and make things easier - still not a great solution, especially since listeners need to download a little program or active-x control for it to work (it was tiny tho, 500kb or something).

Worth a look if cost is an issue.
