I need to subscribe to a few magazines for office coffee table fodder and would like to actually get some good ones. I have 3 types I'd like and I'd like your suggestions on magazines for each type (URLs always handy):

1. Design (web print architecture whatever, inspirational)
2. Soccer (prefer European like fourfourtwo)
3. Techno Gadgetry (latest and greates toys reviewed or somesuch)

Anybodies?

For tech head junk, I prefer Discovery. One of the best subscriptions that I've ever had. Should renew it one of these days.

Doesn't fit in your list, but you've gotta have National Geographic. Perhaps Smithsonian as well.

Though it's been a while, I always enjoyed Popular Science for tech oriented things.

Soccer? Magazine? whoa.....

Thanks for the suggestions (I get Smithsonian already actually, tuvalu! [that's yer friendly neighborhood dot tee vee people innit?! ])

If I don't get any better design suggestions I'ma have to go with Architectural Digest, that's daggum nice but lots of ads (and it's still expensive!).

Popular Science looks to be a popular recommendation, I need to go to a bookstore I guess and browse. Brilliant idea offered to me by someone who actually gets out now and then. Simple genius

I just got a subs. to Digital PhotoPro. It's a very cool mag with lots of articles on using PS for photography and articles about photographers and how they achieve their photos. Plus, of course, lots of photos for the brain-dead page flipper.

You've got to get Fortean Times just for the sheer conversation value.

I've been watching (and just subscribed myself to) New Scientist. It's got articles on the cutting edge of science. I also subscribe to American Heritage of Invention & Technology. It's a magazine about the history of science and invention. Recent issues have featured articles about the invention of teflon, the continuing use of vacuum tubes by audio afficionados and how the Coney Island shoreline was manufactured.

Design Mags: Communication Arts, Print, CYMK, HOW, and PEI

Wired, New Yorker, Renaissance, and Cinefex are always interesting.
