wow dude thats sweeeet. the only thing i dont like about it is the fat border...maybe you can make it thinner....1px maybe and fade it out at the ends?
however.....the animal is an absolutely nice job. how did you do that?

Loks much nicer with the thinner and faded border, but the last few letters of your name fade out as well, and not at the same rate at the border. The "th" are getting a bit lost to me. Not sure how it'll look without the fade, since the letters extend past the border now. Perhaps making the text a tiny bit smaller, so that they don't extended so far past the end of the border, and have them all visible?

mas's question about how Quarath made this sig got me wondering.
I was sure I knew how to do it, but whenI came to try I realised that I must have forgotten So I played around with it for a while and this is what I came up with, I wish I had used a better source image for the lizard now.

[whoops]adding image[/whoops]

Crash course? Sure.

a) start out with a picture
b) make it grayscale by pressing CTRL-SHIFT-U or going to [image>adjustments>hue/saturation] and setting the saturation slider to 0.
c) what you want is to separate the blacks from the whites, so you get a nice clear picture.
What you need to know is that the main color (which was orange with Tao and Quarath) will be white in your picture. (we'll replace the white with orange later) So, if needed, invert your picture (CTRL-I) to get the right colors to be white.

To clean your picture up a little, you can use levels and/or curves. If you've never used these, I recommend reading the manual and/or help files. If you're too lazy to do that, press CTRL-L [image>adjust>levels] and move the black triangle in the 'input window' to the right, and the white one to the left until you have something you like.

Use brushes or whatever to modify your picture if you need to. paint on your picture in black to remove things, since only the white parts will remain.

go to the 'channels' tab. It's in the layers palette, next to the text 'layers'.

Hold CTRL, and click on one of the channels. (red, green or blue) Release CTRL.

Now, the white parts of your picture should be selected, while the black parts are not.

Go back to the layers palette, make a new layer, and fill the selection with a nice color.

Turn off the source picture layer, and use file>save for web to export your picture.

Whoops, sorry mas I knew I forgot something
I used the same procedure as Mahjqa has outlined with some minor differences, but Mahjqa's magic is much stronger than mine.
I love the way your new sig worked out btw Mahjqa

"Magic"? No comment on that one. Getting a selection from a channel is a VERY useful method, I found. In cact, most of my sigs use that technique to get rid of a black background. For example, the snowflake sig also started out as black-and-white. Only in the very last part of the export process I added the blue color and removed the black background.

Also, if my description is unclear in anyway, don't hesitate to ask.
