Hello All,

I wanted some help here. I myself know nothing about this, however, I know that php, asp etc is a neccesity for web design.

I can do basic html but I want to be able to use some langauge.

Starting at the basics. Making a poll with results.

Can anyone point me in the right direction? Perhaps a website or tutorial?

PHP is not exaclty a necessity for webdesign, but rather for server side programming.

The server whenever your website is located must be able to process php pages. It's not usually a free service, so you may have to pay for a decent webhosting. If you are hosting your own webpage, you can pretty much install php, downloading it from http://www.php.net

Well, I shall end my post later (or let someone else explain it better) as I need to log out. Sorry

I've found many a script at http://www.hotscripts.com that have suited my needs or needed a slight bit of tweaking. They also have great links to tutorials.

The best resource I've found for beginners is Zend's Absolute Beginners. Follow that list of tutorials and then move on to the Core Basics and then In Depth tutorials. You'll learn a real lot.

Sitepoint is also a great place for PHP developers. See http://www.sitepoint.com/subcat/php-tutorials

It's great place for anything web design related, actually.
