Ok well I really feel like playing around with Photoshop and was wondering something...

^^^Please look at the Asylum Logo above... If you look closely enough, you'll see tiny little lines going through the lettering.. How did the good Doc do that? Secondly, the logo looks like its semi-liquid (you know what Im saying, right?)... The letters blend into one-another, overlap, and whatnot... Well whats the trick to doing that? I'm sorry, Im a real photoshop novice so please don't be too harsh? Any help is very much appreciated!

Go and search in google for "scanlines in photoshop" and you should be there. The lines are really easy to do :-]

Good luck

1) he made the little lines by.....well.....making little lines.

start with a small canvas, transparent background, maybe 4px x 4px. use your pencil to make two black lines with one pixel between them, and one blank pixel at the bottom.
On the layer with the lines, select all. Go to edit >> define pattern. Name it something logical.

wherever you want such lines, make a layer and go to edit >> fill >> pattern, and choose your lines.

Lock the transparency on the layer, and you can fill with whatever color you like, play with blending modes and opacity until satisfied.

2) Not sure what you mean by liquid, but the letters fit together the way they do because they are custom made letters. Based on a font, but custom 'altered' in Illustrator I beleive to fit so nicely.

Of course, little things like the way the U overlaps, or seems to sink into the M can be done by simply lining up the letters the way you want them, and deleting the portion of one letter where it is overlapped by the other. Applying the proper highlights/shadows and borders is what does the real magic.

The .PSD for the logo should be very educational. May be quite confusing at first too though

Scalines are easily done. Make a 2x1 px canvas and fill either the top or the bottom pixel black... Save as a pattern, fill a layer with it and set on overlay. Done..

overlapping could be simply done by deleting the portions of the overlapping letters from the letters behind, by for example a mask. The rest is a layer style I guess. And I'll check out the PSD if I am right.
EDIT: Ok the shadows and highlights are enhanced by another layers. These are made from the alpha channels. Nice.
