I have been asked my opinion on this site as my boss may get the same company to do ours, basicly exactly the same. I am really not very keen for the following reasons - can anyone let me know their thoughts and if they agree with mine please

www DOT Adre m DOT uk DOT com - (please replace DOT with a . and remove the space in the name, I really didn't want this to show up in any web search)

although visually appealing and the flash work is good;

1) Fails accessibility tests

2) Fails WC3 validator

3) Search engines: bad. google, for example, ranks pages by a combination of content and links to that website in other webpages - it wont rank this site well.

4) Very slow to load, and perfonrmance is bad, especially on lower spec machines and would be a nightmare on dial up connections ? (4-5 minutes for the 208KB candidates section ???)

5) no plain text version for those with no flash

Indeed this site looks good and has the many disadvantages of all Flash only website.

But actually, if your main target browsers supports PNG with opacity ( be it natively of via a DX filter ) , you can do something similar rather easily with XHTML CSS and a bit of DHTML here and there to move some images, but nothing worth pulling your hairs. To replace the PNGs by some GIFs where needed you can eventually use a server-side browser detection. That way the content should be accessible and valid.

When Tyberius Prime and co made the new version of the Asylum, they introduced a delay of 4h to edit one's posts. This measure is there to allow the inmates to fix some typos/UBB/ add a paragraph about a reply posted while they were writing their own post ... and to avoid the inmates to alter their messages too long later, and maintain the coherence of the discussions.

Don't worry the URL you gave is in plain text and slightly encoded. That's enough to keep the searchBots away.
