hi. i am very new to dhtml. can someone point me in the direction of a good tutorial on layer usage? when i try to use them i have serious browser problems and i know i am just missing some nuances. thanks.

On the Ozone Asylum we have faqs just for your needs, look ...
DHTML/JavaScript
for javascript/DHTML related ones (I think the first question may answer your problems)

I'd also quickly like to apologise to my other inmates here, for not knowing how to point to an FAQ correctly!

panzhuli: Welcome in the Asylum.
First, you may check the How do I make layers move? and DOM Reference. Three other extremely useful things to read are Enhancing Web Pages with JavaScript by Slime ( one of our inmates ) and Introduction to DHTML and W3C DOM -Introductionboth by Peter-Paul Koch.

And of course you may also check the scripts posted here. It's always interresting to read other's code and learn from that.
