All of a sudden I'm finding that web pages don't fit my browser - theres a lot of space to the right. other pages such as google and Ozone the text seems to be twice the size it used to be. I had this problem before but it went away before I could look into it. the last time I found that the wheel on my mouse made the web pages magnify/shrink but that's not the case this time.
Anyone else experienced this or know how to cure it? winxp sp1

Try Ctrl+0 of View > Text Size > Medium or View > Text Size > Normal

According to your comment about the difference of text size in various sites, I bet you're using IE, since that "browser" is known for its incapacity to resize the texts set in px. Anyway, sorry I don't know how to fix the mouse wheel problem. Does your wheel work in other programs ? Have you tried to re-install the browser ?

[edit] Actually, TwoD's comment about holding Ctrl is a good idea. That kind of stupid thing can easily make anybody go nut. [/edit]

If you are using Internet Explorer, try holding down Ctrl and use the mousewheel to resize the text (sometimes the Ctrl key gets stuck).
Or try the "Show->Textsize" menu. (My version is in Swedish so I don't know the exact translation)

This problem is similar to the Insert-problem aka "The-stupid-computer-erased-everything-I-had-written-so-I-formatted-the-HDD-(again)-problem". Gotta love it

yes holding down the control key does make the text larger or smaller with the mousewheel. the textsize menu didnt change anything.
the web pages look as if they have been set up to a certain width instead of a percentage of the screen width so instead of stretching to fit any screen resolution they are stuck at about 3/4 of the screen width.
yes internet explorer 6 is the culprit. if all else fails I will try and reinstall

It's probably time to install a decent browser.
