My binary sig counts to 127 in binary and then starts over until it decays so much it's accuracy is close to random. I used ImageReady to animate the 7 images with 2 frames each.

Total size of all 7 images: 980 bytes
The "z" changes every 16 seconds, cut in half as you move to the end.

Is there a way I can increase the accuracy without making the whole thing a 128 frame animated gif?
Any comments, suggestions?

In your case the values are/should be:

  • z = 16 seconds
  • a = 8 seconds
  • v = 4 seconds
  • a = 2 seconds
  • b = 1 second
  • o = 0.5 second
  • y = 0.25 second

Anyway doing the 128 frames is extremely fast. You just need to draw the binary patterns from 0 to 127 :

zoom it so that 1pixels reaches the size of one letter and scroll it above the zavaboy typo and bam! The drawback is that due to the high number of frames the image weighs 13.1Kb.

I'm with Poi, you're best bet is to make it one image and make sure its as optimized as possible. Making the letters smaller could reduce the file size too but I don't think that is totally necesary.

I make almost all my animations that way i.e. doing a long stripe with all the frames and bam! scroll it and tween the anim to get the number of frames in the stripe.

A good thing with this method is that you can use the displace directly on the stripe to quickly generate that kind of anims:

And remember boys and girls, base 2 is all fun and games until someone goes and forgets that the power sequence starts at 0

course, us static people could just put our names in binary thusly:

Poi; Nice technique. Usually, I keep every frame on a different layer, but your 'animation on a long stripe' (English vocabulary is failing me again) technique could be very useful.
