Hello asylumnites, I need your help.

I am trying to set up an FTP server in my computer, this computer I am right now typing in, and I am not being successful in trying to connect to it from my own machine, but I believe that it's working from outside my home network, because I am behind my router now.

Please, can you try to ftp me and see if it works?

The address is ftp.kalyx.info and the port is 2100, NOT the default 21 (because my f#%&@ng ISP blocks known ports).

You can use the "anonymous" username and no password at all, as usual.

Please, try both active and passive modes.

Or, you can just click this link

ftp://ftp.kalyx.info:2100

that it should give it a try.

Thanks a lot.
AV

Based on the log file, I believe that when a browser is used to connect to an FTP site, the default is to connect using passive FTP because most of the attemps are passive. And my log file shows errors for passive connections. I don't know what's going on but it's not good. Sometimes I see successful connections, some of you even uploaded files to the ftp, but many failures, mostly in passive mode.

This is driving me crazy. It was so easy when there were no router...

Anyway, thanks guys and if you want to keep trying (for those that haven't yet), passive and active modes, I'll keep collecting the useful data from the log.

Thanks again.

I clicked on the index file in browser mode and got "error 550 path does not exist" when the page was loading.

[edit]
The break.swf should be 34k, something untoward happened to it during transfer.

I don't know how to set passive or active FTP in Firefox. In IE, we can go to the Internet Options, then Advanced, there is a setting for "Use Passive FTP (for firewall and DSL modem compatibility) but actually, PASSIVE mode seems to be the one not working.

Ok, unknown, thanks a lot.
I'm tired of this FTP server behind a router story.
I am going to sleep, computer will be off.
Thanks again.
