Topic awaiting preservation: Blending colors¿ (Page 1 of 1)

I know the post is here some where.
But i can´t find it, or rather i don´t know what to search for.
So only point me in the right direction OR explain in a simple matter.

I had this crazy idea if i took the darkest color in forum and made it opacity 50% and the lighter color beneath
it would turn up so i could use it on both post areas.
But it didnt work.
Also its hard to make out colors from different forums, if i use colorpicker i get different on the forum and in photoshop

I look in the source of course but thats time consuming, so is there a better way?

Couse i could use that in other forums aswell.

Usually in forums, I find that there are generally two background colours that make up the "posting area". To get an average of these colours so that any transparent gif you use will work, you do the following. Make a new layer in the document and using the rectangular select tool select half the layer. Now fill each half with a background colour. Then go to filter>blur>gaussian blur, and set it to blur at the highest amount. You now have an average background colour. Click on it with the eyedropper tool and make a note of the values for future reference.
This is just off the top of my head as I am in a bit of a rush. I hope it makes sense.

Spellbinder - if you go through JK's transparency tutorial, you will see that he gives you the formula you need to get the average of two colors using their rgb vaules.

Much better than relying on blending and blurring in photoshop....

I agree about blurring, but I find that simply putting two colored layers over eachother and setting the top one to 50 percent works wonderfully.

There are all kinds of things that work - to one degree or another.

It's nice to be exact though, and know how to figure it out for yourself if you have to.

Of course the formula is common sense - you want the average, so you simply average them as you would any other numbers...

Does that colorpic figure out avarage color?

And yes DL-44, only thing it is in HEX so i would have to learn what HEX(xxxxxxxx) is in DEC(xxxxxxxx)
What i mean is that i can´t figure out the avarage between FFFFFF and 000000 more then it has to be grey.
I really hope i make my self understod, maybe if i got a list of all hex values would help me, i dont know.

of course....if you're in photoshop, you can easily get the RGB and hex values of any color in the color picker dialogue.

DL, I don't think the hex values in the color picker were added until after 5.0

Hot Damn. JkMabry, that tutotrial doesn't come in pdf does it? I'm asking cause I'm running on dial-up(really sucks).
