Topic awaiting preservation: HSB vs HLS - I was wrong (Page 1 of 1)

I was doing some poking around. More anomolies and I was placing the blame in the wrong places.

Looks like the blame was all mine.

Got to taking a closer look at the Eyedropper set to HSB. Ran into some bad things. Then straightened some things out.

Left side is what I've been calling HSB.
Right side is what I've been calling HLS.



If you grab the Eyedropper, set to HSB, and run around on both triangles, only one will be correct for S and B. Turns out to be the one of the right.

Looks like I've had then switched around all this time. Once I switched them, everything started making sense again.

So, for HSB:
S = Max(RGB) - Min(RGB)
B = Max(RGB)

It all makes sense now.

Spell, I have a lot of stuff about this laying around here somewhere. I believe the most relevant thread is titled 'HSB Stuff'.

I might have to come out of retirement and consolidate all of this material in my old school Tech-Slop style. Especially now that I've gotten the last few wrinkles ironed out.

It feels good.

Asper, I found it in the Sink: HSB junk.

Since then, I've been on another rampage or two on other forums with some new/different related material.

I've gotten most of an outline for consolidating this stuff.
So, it's just a matter of time.
I think I'll call it Mini Slop.
