Maze Wars Beta 2

Over one year of work right there.

New features include:
- key mapping
- "mission mode": essentially a tutorial
- slimeland.com multiplayer games: find other players over the internet

Personally, I'm going to be interested to see how much use the latter feature gets. I'm not too hopeful right now, but you never know.

Comments welcome! Tell me if anything goes wrong.

congrats!
did you implement the client-server yourself or did you use a library?

now i'd like to hear some old-school arcade sound effects in that.

I downloaded it, but with my busted monitor I can't really see enough to enjoy playing...
I'll play it just as soon as I can get on a computer with a decent monitor, then I'm sure I'll be giving you well-deserved praise.

I'll be downloading it when I get home. I'll challenge my two lads to a game, it looks good fun.

Wow, very well done. Runs great, even on this dinosaur of a computer.

Too bad there's no one else online right now

Pretty much myself, the only library I used was winsock. The slimeland.com part uses HTTP; the server thinks Maze Wars is a web browser.

Sound may be put in someday. I have a friend who might write some music for it, and I'm sort of just waiting until he gets around to it. =)

What's wrong with your monitor that you can't see it?

That's good. It seems to have a low frame rate on older video cards - more so than should probably be the case, but I'm glad it runs.

My logs show that a few people are trying to create games here and there... about once every hour or so. If you want to play, I think it's just a matter of patience - create a game if you have a fast connection (and make sure your firewall or router isn't blocking the port you select), and wait a while; people will find it eventually.

We can also schedule a game, but I can't host because my modem will cause too much lag.

Well, I'll be at the univ tomorrow for awhile at least, so if nothing else, I can play someone there. Someone else might even catch us there and join

Only problem might be the univ firewall, but I'll give it a shot.
