How do you create custom gloss contours for use in layer styles? I'm trying to replicate a glossy button effect using one layer style, instead of using three layers with different blending modes, but I can't get the sheen just right. I'm pretty sure I could recreate the sheen if I could just create a custom Gloss Contour.

Here's the PSD I'm working with so you can see what I'm trying to get at. Button

hmmm............never even knew that was there. hahaha!

however, I do have a solution........

When you have the Layer Style window up, click on "Contour" on the left hand side under "Bevel and Emboss". Click on the thumbnail and that will bring up the contour editor. take it from there.

That's all fine and dandy, but that just gives me a list of contours to choose from. Granted, there are more you can load, but I actually want to create one of those little contour maps, for use in either the Gloss Contour: inside of the Bevel and Emboss settings, or where you mentioned, in the Contour settings underneath Bevel and Emboss.

So now the question is... anything out there that gives some theory on how to use contours effectively? I'm messin with the settings and came pretty close, but I really have no idea what I'm actually doing besides I move this and it look better... I move that and it looks worse. I can't really see much rhyme or reason to it all.
