All right, I am gonna give this one a try...

Nifty topic, and I might see if I can actually whip something up for this one... it's been a long while since I've entered a sig contest.

I had to chuckle at your list of possible subjects, in particular goatees and eyeliner. Drag was the first thing that popped into my head.

Ens, I checked out your pyramid sig in ImageReady and you have too many frames. That's why your filesize is too big. If you cut out every even numbered frame, since your keyframes fall on odd numbers (1 and 29), you can cut down the size to only 21kb.

Also, the animation will still look smooth as long as you tweak your frame delays.

if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

Ok, Silence... I removed the even frames, and with that xtra comfort room for size, I was able to add detail to it... Thanks alot! Now it's only 28.7 =)

quite nice, outcyder. I would like to see it a bit shorter and wider though - get more of a feel for the scene.

I'm still working on this, but thought I'd post it up anyway. The symbols (arm, semi-circle, etc) are straight from a site that you can write some text in a box and it "translates" it into hieroglyphs for you, so not my work at all. Whoops, I thought I had the link here but I can't find it atm, I'll post it later when I find it.
Oh Emps, btw, I picked up your chiffon robe from the cleaners.

This is the eye on its own, which is still just up from an idea but may lead to something.
We're just in the playing stage atm

I'm also working on a hieroglyph sig, and I've noticed that there is not complete agreement on how "suho" should be spelled. There seem to be two schools of thought, basically, and they assign different sounds to the hieroglyphs. Not that it matters, I suppose, but it's a bit frustrating for a linguistic nut like me...

I didn't realise that they had assigned any sounds to the hieroglyphs yet. How about the hieroglyph for "Shockko" there might be some agreement there. Just goes to show I hardly read the explaination at all, just the purdy pictures

[edit] Just caught your post DL. That's a great effect, I remember I used to sit and reload the page just to look at all the groovy Guru's Logos. Are they stored anywhere to view nowadays? I'm sure they are it's just the old memory playing wotsits. [/edit]

I like what you have done Jung, but I'm not too sure about the dark area underneath, is that a shadow?

Well, I used an actual photo of the original Rosetta Stone for reference and tried to make my sig look like the actual tablet itself. So the dark area underneath is actually the bottom of the tablet which I sort of rotated forwards to de-emphasize the "Jung" part the most leaving it the smallest and have the Egyptian and Alien glyphs more prominant.

Maybe I can lighten this area up more or add some more texture or something as I guess it does look a little like a poorly done shadow or something...

outcyder - you've forgotten to enter your sigs in this month's contest thread! and tao? aren't you entering your other efforts too?
