I just noticed while browsing the asylum that poi's site has an animated favicon. How stadard is this? I was thinking one if this is possible but i never tried it. Also never heard of it before to be honest
Let me check IE...
Nope, doesn't work there... Figures. Just curious, is this an undocumented feature of FF?
Nice anyway although i think it will only get annoying when everyone will have one...Kinda like animated gif's or the blink tag

Curiously yours, crip

The first time I've seen an animated favicon was on mozillanews.org. When I made my site, I've decided (ab)use the fact that Gecko accepts GIF as favicon to put my latest avatar. Still, if the userAgent is not Gecko my site uses the real .ico file. Of course I won't use a flashing animated GIF as favicon. My retina is as sensitive as yours.

Alas I have found no official spec about favicons, but since there's the word "icon" in the term it sounds logical that only real icons should be allowed.
