Currently, I'm using a pretty good host, but I wanted to get some feedback from others, as I'd like to shop around for a new host for one of my sites. It's a high-maintenance site that get's about 1000 unique visitors per day, and uses around 10 gigs transfer a month.

Here's what I'm looking for:

- 10 gigs transfer (more would be great)
- At least 150mb of space
- PHP
- MySQL Database (at least 100mb, but more would be nice)
- 3 or more subdomains included
- POP E-mail w/Webmail access (at least 5 e-mail addresses)
- Built-in stats tracking
- SSL (not necessary, but this would be a definite plus)
- Control Panel
- Uptime guarantee

The price range I'm looking for is under $20.00 a month.

Here's what my current host offers for $25 a month:

- 15 gigs transfer
- 300mb disk space
- PHP, ASP, .NET
- 150mb MySQL or MS SQL database
- 1 subdomain (additional is $2 extra per month)
- Unlimited POP E-mail w/ unlimited storage
- Built-in stats (not very good, though)
- SSL
- *No* control panel
- At least 99% uptime moneyback guarantee

I know, what I've got now is a damn fine deal, but I'm looking to save some money -- all the sites I host is costing me about $100.00 a month now, so I'd like to cut corners where I can.

So, any help would be appreciated, and I'm also willing to be a referral for someone if the hosting they're referring meets my needs.

Thanks

check out pow web . com (just take out the spaces )

not sure if you are talking about 10gig transfer a day or month but Powweb allows 5 gigs a day. 2gigs storage. and cheap $7.77 a month

they do not allow ssh though which is the only thing i wished they did allow.

I'd rather not go with Powweb. I've had a series of bad experiences with them and one of their lead support guys.

That deal on dreamhost, the level 3 package, looks like a pretty good deal. It doesn't specify on their site how much DB space you get. Is it basically unlimited, or is there a limit?

"unlimited" never means that, but yes, that's pretty much the deal. If you use more resources than "your share" on a shared host, Dreamhost included, they'll probably contact you about scaling back or moving to dedicated hosting. Your description of your site does not sound like anything that would cause such a contact however.

Dreamhost is experiencing a little "growing pains" since they started that sale, some users are complaining of slow php and MySQL performance, but I for one am not, and I am hosting many sites across multiple machines there. They do realize they've had a growth spurt and are in hiring/training mode and from past experience (been there 4-5 years) I can say with confidence that they'll get it sorted asap.

If you do decide on Dreamhost would you please consider listing "gurusnetwork" as the webID that referred you? That will help pay for the hosting cost of the Asylum's sister site linked at the bottom of each page.

If you do a search on Ozone regarding your question, you will find that Dreamhost are by far the most recommended host, that must be for a reason. I have been with them for 2 yrs now, never looked back, always got great support and quite humourous, but to the point newletter updates.

If they are having problems, they will be the first to admit it and do not hide behind excuses, but from my experience so far, nothing to complain about.

No Sig ?

I've been going over and over the Level 3 offer with the $19.95 price tag for a few days now, it really looks like such a great offer that I'd be stupid to pass it up.

That said, I'm definitely going with Dreamhosting, and will DEFINITELY use gurusnetwork as the referral ID. Y'all have never let me down. Thanks!
