I would appreciate any help in this regard. Frankly I just want to know how to build an ecommerce site from scratch.

You'll need user authentication, a shopping cart and ways to accept payments. I do have a bit of a vague idea of the sheer magnitude of ecommerce projects, but for some weird reason I've been intrigued for a while to find out the core essentials of ecommerce solutions such as accepting cash payments, tracking orders, etc. I do a bit of basic web development in PHP and .NET but when it came to ecommerce websites I've never been able to understand what goes beyond the shopping cart. For now the FAQ you posted should suffice my appetite for now. Thanks again
