ROFLMAO

I assure you, this is a passing fancy.

Perhaps the next trend will be for technicolour, glow-in-the-dark sphincters which may be entertaining for the average joe or jane, but it will certainly give those who indulge in anal sex something to aim for.

Maybe.

People are strange.

I'd place this somewhere between a culturally acceptable version of superfluity, and complete and utter narcissism where it really isn't deserved. Seriously, people, are we that vain, and who really cares?

I think it has less to do with vanity and more to do with insecurity. Then again, I'm not really sure where to draw the line between the two sometimes.

And I must say that "technicolour, glow-in-the-dark sphincters" would provide an ironic twist to the phrase: "where the sun don't shine."

Think of the many uses for such sphincters, though. They would, for example, eliminate the need for disco glitter balls You just depants* some poor sucker and string him up hand and foot over the dance floor, and BAM! Instant disco.

* I figure if we're going to have utterly silly words like "deplane" in the English language, we should be able to slip in things like "depants."
