...solve my internet connection problem?
You see, ever since reformatting my computer and re-installing Windows XP Pro, quite regularly my 56k connection fails to respond. There's no clear reason why it does, it just suddenly fails to load pages, signs out of MSN, just 100% non-responsiveness. The only way to correct this is to disconnect and re-dail until about an hour later, the same begins happening again. Now everything is updated, service pack 1, updated IE, you name it. I've never had this problem before when I've reformatted so I'm stuffed as to what's causing this hassle.

Really hope someone has an idea or a likely theory on what the goddamn problem is! It's shitting me up the wall!

It could be any number of things - faulty modem, crappy drivers, incorrect settings or even a shitty phone line.

Sounds like you got straight online without patching everything immediately and got that Sasser virus or one of it's net killing cousins. If you can get to the Microsoft update site you can get all your patches and plaster and penicillin to make yourself really ill. Did you install Service pack 2 by the way?

Nar, I didn't install Service Pack 2. I'll try running some virus scans, get the Sasser remove tool and patch, maybe even re-install the damn modem and try calling my ISP and see what's up with them.
