Do you know what font is being used here.

At the same time do you have any resourses that would teach me how to recognize different fonts?

Thanks,

Get every font there is and look at and use them all a lot.

I don't know what font that is, but it looks like something Chank or one of his cronies would make. (Theres actually lots of people who make fonts like that, Chank just came to mind first.)

As far as recognizing fonts, (I'm assuming that your not talking about telling the difference between serif, sans-serif, cursive etc..) it's kind of like going to a museum and being able to tell the masters apart by just looking at the paintings. You have to look at lot's and after a while you'll notice the subtle differences between them. Another example; Ham Radio CW (morse code) operators call it a fist. They can tell who is sending the code, by the way it sounds. They learn through hours and hours of listening. Once you start studying fonts, who made them, and other little things, you'll be able to pick them out with just a glance.

Is that what you were looking for or am I way off-base?

F1 you are right on target.

Where can I go to study fonts then? I know that typesetting is a huge field, I have to assume there are hundreds upon hundreds of resources out there, but I must be using the wrong google terms because I keep ending up at font link farms.

mhmm there has been a software where you could submit a .jpg containing some letters of the font and it automatically figured out which font that was. unfortunately i dont have the link, but as far as i remember, the link has been posted some long time ago here in the asylum.

WarMage, it looks like folks have given you some great resources. Fonts can be fun to learn to identify, but it can be a little overwhelming also. It takes time to learn to identify them, and like learning a new language, you need to keep up on it to keep it fresh.
I had been going to post how I learned about dealing with fonts, but with the resources posted above, you'll make much faster progress then I did a donzen years ago. Good luck.
