Photo Statistics: 640x480, 96 dpi, 24-bit

The photos taken with a camera phone appear extremely pixelated and perhaps posterized. If you've used a camera phone, I think you know what I'm talking about. How can these low-res photos be cleaned up? That is, what can I do with Photoshop CS to make these photos look not-so-poor?

A soft blur and then resizing the image to say 320x240 might make it look a bit better.

You could give this a try using the free trial. It's probably not exactly what you want, but it apparently does a great job cleaning up pixellated images when you enlarge them.

but honestly, you're not going to have much luck with any method. the information for a good looking picture just isn't in there - and no software can make it appear. A good painter could, in hours of tedious work ;-)
