I'm pretty sure it is a custom font, but I've found a couple of decent lookalikes. As jstuartj mentioned, the main thing about the TIME font that sticks out is the distinctive M, with its trapezoidal shape and lack of serifs at the top. Trajan comes the closest, so I guess it'll have to do. Thanks again.

Gosh, I haven't been here in a while, but...

Can anyone here identify the header font used by Time magazine in the 1940's? Or is it a custom typeface?
