ok, and now the code for the cartoon shader please!

hehe
no, seriously. i guess you use GLSL. did you hack out the algorithm yourself?
what library did you use for the png loading? i tried libpng once but it's kinda huge so i always sticked with tga files.

and why are the little fellas blobs not slimeys?

good work! keep it up!

Um... did you check the images folder? Everything is an image. No complicated algorithms and tesselated spheres (wisely!)

oh, i see.

well the blobs seem very 3d-ish thats why i thought they are real spheres with a toonshader.

looking more carefully at it, i noticed that most of the objects are drawn using billboarding.
but still there must be some spheremapping on the blobs to get the correct distortion for their faces.

Slime, what's your secret?

also, i noticed that there is quite a good chance to survive a level by doing nothing at all.
and what is the morale for?

Yeah, there's no shading here (although that's something I'm a little interested in learning). The blobs consist of 2D circles drawn to face towards the camera, and their eyes and mouths are drawn on the edge of a sphere. The outline is drawn last so that the edges look nice when they're facing sideways.

The morale is a measure of how happy they are (keep them away from cliffs and near flowers to increase it). Your score rises faster when morale is higher. (The number of blobs alive is also factored in, so keep them alive for a better score.)

I didn't use slimes because I plan to put this (plus cleaned up source code) in my portfolio for job applications, and slimes technically belong to Nintendo.

Mental!

...though I must admit that I derived a measure of gratuitous satisfaction from watching those little faces turn to horror as I threw them into the flames... *manic giggle* ...crap score, but truly sadistic goodness. Mmmm.

Dragon Warrior. Actually, come to think of it, although the games were originally released on the NES, I think it's made by a different company and now there are some for Playstation.
