after years of development, i have released the somewhat final versions of two of my software projects:

JuliaBrot - A Mandelbrot set viewer that also displays the corresponding Julia set.
MDTerrain - A random terrain generator. Can save terrain data to greyscaled images which can then be used as heightmaps for terrain rendering.

i'd be happy if some of you guys would try them out and give me some feedback. i won't implement new features though, but i'd be glad if i could find most of the remaining bugs, so i can say it's rocksolid.
thanks!

axle, you dont need any special experience to try out a little program! its just a little executable, download it and give it a try. if you really cant do anything with it, please let me know.

thanks!

I don't know why, but the Mandelbrot fractal didn't show up for me (even though the Julia did); when I held the corner of the window and resized the window, it appeared until I released the mouse button. The Julia preview was cool; I think I saw something like that in Fractint a long time ago.

The height field generator is cool, but I feel like I need more control over the terrain features.

thank you Slime!

well the openGL context is only redrawn when something is changed and after startup. but there is probably a bug somewhere. so the mandelbrot disappeard again when you stopped resizing the window? thanks for the feedback!

yes the heightfield generator isnt much more than the implementation of ONE algorithm. if you want to have more control over the features try out http://www.world-machine.com/

thanks!
