As some of you know during my time away I got invovled with putitng together a zombie magazine. The first issue is in the pipeline and we are haivng a top ten vote and although we are winding the vote up I thought I;d throw in here too (I was menaing to do this earlier but my time keeps disappearing):

quote:
We are conducting a vote for the top ten of zombie movies and the most rotten one too. So some quick guidelines:

1. Voting - just post your top ten films and the worst one. If you don't want to vote for a full 10 then feel free to only vote for the number you want to. If you don't want to nominate a worst film then you don't have to. The only main thing is that you can't vote for a block of films like:

1. Romero's trilogy
2. All of Fulci's films

as it makes scoring it tricky and as there will (hopefully) be a lot of votes if its too dificult we'll call the "ballot paper" spoiled and move on so try to be clear about which film you mean (the main IMDB title is handy esp. given the confusion over zombie film names) and a year would be handy if it is unclear - we'll assume dawn of the dead is the oriignal unless you specify 2004.

2. Scoring - I'll give the #1 film in the list 10 points and so on until the #10 film gets 1 point. The top ten will be decided by the total of votes - it favors the more popular films but is the fairest method without getting overly complex and arcane.

3. Cheating - we reserve the right to disqualify films that people are campaigning to get a high place (we have no problem with people voting for their own film but if they get all their family and friends to give it #1 then it is rather spoiling the intention of the whole thing - to get a realistic survey of what people genuinely like).

4. Time limit - you only have a day or so I'm afraid.

If you need help with jogging your memory we have prepared a list with as wide a range of films as possible (its a zipped HTML file -its 20kb compared to the unzipped 400kb)

http://www.revenantmag.com/uploads/zombie_films_html.zip

feel free to pick zombie films not on this list its only there to help. We also aren't looking for a "but that isn't a zombie movie!!" debate - we've tried to be inclusive and everyone will have their own definitions. We can have this debate in the future but at the moment it distracts from the point of the exercise

-------------

We hope this should be an interesting idea and may count as one of the most extensive surveys of zombie movie fans yet

Oh and I have some talented chappie redesigning the rather basic design at the moment and I'll let people know when that goes live (as it is well worth seeing).

I was wondering when you were going to mention that here.

Lacuna: I figured that would get you to come out of the woodwork.

Blaise: Last I heard, Emps kidnapped the giant squid for some sick experiment designed to produce undead cephalopods.

I haven't seen it, but does Bubba Ho-tep qualify as a zombie movie?
Should at least get honourable mention for Bruce.

And holy crap!
Was browsing through the list and I've got to see Rotten Shaolin Zombies.
Looks like pure cheesie camp.

Hell yeah! Bubba Ho-tep was a fine piece of zombie movie, God bless Bruce!

Speaking of which Bruce Campbell and Kurt Russel are going to star in another movie together!! unfortunatly it's a kids film by disney called Sky high, but hey you can't always have your cake and eat it.

Speaking of which, I know it's along shot, but what about Big trouble in little China, Lo Pan was kind of undead.

Actually, that's rubbish it wasn't a zombie film, but it did kick arse!

As Old Jack burton always says 'What the hell'

It scares me just how many of those films I've seen. And it also shows that my dream of having a zombie DVD collection of films I've seen is a very expensive one.

However you did forget an early 90's semi-undead film in your list. Highway to Hell And I know there are a few others missing, but I can't remember them, nor am I sure I want to. But all in all, a very comprehensive list.

No need to worry - I wrote the actual copy

F1_error: Thanks for the tip - ultimately it depends on how you define things so there will never be one comprehensive list esp. due to the zero budget indie movies and all the shorts there are. You could probably double the 500 in that list (and as quite a few aren't on DVD...).

I'll throw H2H in for the zombie cop.

---------
wj: Again it depends -I'd say no to Bubba Ho-Tep as great as it is but some may say yes,

RSZ can be ordered from:
http://www.rottenshaolinzombies.com

and they link to plenty of reviews too.

-----------
Blaise: Yep zombie tentacle porn coming up!!!

There is slightly too much zombie porn around for my comfort (best title must go the the hardcore gay film "At Twilight Come the Flesheaters") and that letter is messed up.

Bubba Ho-Tep was A Mummy not a Zombie per say. Mummy movies are a whole nother genre, even though mummies are walking dead. Of course if you were to get really technical about types of undead, you'd have to re-evaluate the Hellraiser series being in the list. It's a fine grey undead line you have to draw sooner or later.

Indeed - I specifically left out mummies and Frankenstein as best I could but there is no clear dividing line between the two.

And lets not get into the whole "is he or isn't he? If he is then when?" debate about Jason Vorhees

There are also films in there that are certianly not films with zombies in like Bad Taste, The Crazies and 28 Days Later but they do have a certain "zombie aesthetic" (more so than House of the Dead!!!!) so they are in

Well that explains it. I was wondering where she found the funny all of a sudden. And to think she passed it off as her own work... for shame.

Abusing you in private just wasn't as fun anymore, what can I say?

And you wouldn't go putting me on your ignore list now, would you?
