This incident involved a person wearing nothing but a sock puppet... i don't suppose you know anything about that?

I don't know.. I think the funniest part of it all is the comments from the police:

quote:
"It's indecent exposure," Massey said. "You just kind of wonder what they're capable of if they're out there at 4 p.m. on a Friday afternoon."

and

quote:
...police don't think any of it was very funny.
"I think it's serious. I think it makes people uncomfortable and intimidates them," Massey said.

I agree.. This should not be swept away as a harmless prank, but should be considered as a serious crime!! Lock'em up and throw away the key!

..seriously...

From my own perspective I'd be less uncomfortabel if I saw a stunt like this being carried out at the busy hours of the day than if I's seen it in an empty street around midnight. Somehow the setting would change my perception from prankster to psycho.

So here's something to consider:
If you're streaking and there's noone there to see you; are you really naked and is it really indecent exposure?

Wakkos, are you there to shed some light on this for us?

You just have to case a place for old maids before you do it.

Yeah - if there aren't any old maids about, it isn't as much fun.

In 1907, the australian swimmer and actress, Annette Kellerman, was arrested in the US for indecent exposure for wearing a bathing suit, despite it exposing just her lower legs and forearms. Strange that our ideas flip-flop so much that depite ancient images depicting women bathing in two-piece costumes akin to bikinis in Pompeii, we spent centuries finding convoluted ways to hide as much flesh as possible before someone like Annette advocated the right of women to wear something a little less uncomfortable than a thick, skirted costume with a weighted hem.

The swimming fashion world was finally startled into the modern age by Annette Kellerman, an Australian swimming champion and movie star, and a notorious rebel about Victorian attitudes. She began to appear in public in tight fitting swimsuits, custom made for competition and movie roles. Wearing a one-piece, body-stocking bathing suit, she was arrested in Boston for indecent exposure. During the resulting furor, she was once quoted as saying, ?I can?t swim wearing more stuff than you hang on a clothesline.?

Times change constantly, but I don't think we're ready for the sock-wear revolution just yet - even nudity is more likely to be accepted first. lol

Intimidated? Was his johnson that big? If people are getting intimidated maybe an award is more appropriate than a court appearance.

I find the idea of skateboarding with just a sock puppet rather funny. I doubt he shocked any one for life.
The police should have given a warning and order him to put his clothes on, and don't waste more time to go back to serious problems.
