Topic awaiting preservation: I've been ripped

I was checking my referer log and found this page!
First I didn't see any thing suspicus but then I noticed that the background is a picture I made 3 years ago.

Ok... he's stupid he is hotlinking me... eating away by bandwidth... grrr
Can anybody point me in the right direction
for htaccess rewrites. That kind of rewrite
that show's an *certain* picture when
accessing it from a unauthrized site.

in dreamhost controlpanel. It's still there after an hard refresh!!?

Make an .htaccess file in your root web directory and put this in it (replacing slimeland with your site URL):

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^$
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?slimeland.com/ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.)?ozoneasylum.com/ [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} !^http://(www\.|images\.)?google.[a-z\.]{1,6}/ [NC]
RewriteRule (.*\.(gif|jpg|png))$ http://www.slimeland.com/replacementimage.jpg [R,L]

This allows image linking from ozoneasylum.com and google, and sends everyone else to replacementimage.jpg.

I hate rippers... I went ahead and contacted the owners of the other images that were being hotlinked...

Slime, thanks a bunch. http://sigs.mahjqa.com could really use that kind of protection.

edit; as only /sigs needs that kind of protection, is there a way that the ban is only in effect there, and not for the rest of the site? I've got some graphics (banners etc) that I would like to be freely available to everyone.

You should be able to just put that .htaccess file in your /sigs directory instead of your root directory.
