hi there
this time i really would need the thelp of all the CSS gurus in here. I created a site a while ago for a friend, but he keeps telling me that he has severe problems with the site on Macs. unfortunately i do not know if he means Internet Explorer or Safari. However, I need to fix these problems, but I have no idea how. are there any inmates in the house with a mac? would you probably be so kind and test the site for me? and could you maybe also give me some tips how to fix the errors? are there any CSS - donts in my code? whats going wrong?
PLEASE HELP! thanks in advance!

the site is www.ciro.at

It looks fine with Safari 2.0 and FF1.0.4 on Tiger
But IE for Mac (which sucks anyway) it's completely broken. No text, links or images showing. Have you tried to see if your CSS is valid?

validation is broken now i think because i just played around with some CSS. will try that later too.

I was going to send you screenshots, but it looks like you fixed things for IE. Do you still want me to send you some big files?

Get 'em here.
safari
IE
FireFox

BTW, I'm one of those odd people who hate browsing at full screen. Here's how it looks with the size browser I'm using today.
Safari Only
Usually my browser is a little bit smaller width wise. I'm usually running several apps, so smaller windows works for me.

thanks a lot f1!
mhmm if you have a close look you can clearly see that the links are not on the right place in safari. for example, left to the font where it says "impressum", can you see the thin white stripe? this shouldnt be, does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

no, not really. i am using CSS rollover, this means the thin stripe on the lft is probably the M of the other impressum.

It seems like the validator is not liking your URL. You can use either File Upload or Direct Input to validate your CSS. Check it out at http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/

If you ever need to test websites for Safari, Apple has now released a copy for Windows! Cheers.

[offtopic]

The beta of Safari 3 on Windows left me underwhelmed, to say the least. It's still quite buggy and crashy for a public beta. Not to mention that it doesn't fit at all with the Windows way and style ... [selfPun] now I know what Mac users feel when they use Opera for the first time [/selfPun]

Oh well, at least it's cool to not need a Mac to test the layout engine. And Apple will reach their real goal : i.e. reach a wider audience of web dev. to develop widgets for the iPhone.

(still off-topic)

Well, if it did look and feel like a Windows app, there wouldn't be a lot of reasons to give it a try. For most people, anyway. Or for Apple to install it along with iTunes.

If it's true that there are 1,000,000 copies of iTunes downloaded per day, they can get it onto quite a number of Windows machines in no time....

And I'm sure they'll get it at least somewhat more stable, compatible etc. until the final is released.
