Wandered past these glorious ships today, just couldn't resist climbing all over them and taking a few photographs
The Mersey River Festival is taking place this weekend all part of the build up to the Sea Liverpool doo dahs.

I'm just off to see if I can catch any of the ships in sail on the Mersey. The dark clouds are still there, you are right about the weather Ian looks like rain at any time, so I'll take my sou'wester with me
Here's my first attempt at CS's Photomerge, not bad for just one click, but you can see the limitations. Next time I'll try to do a hand stich, to see how that compares

Nice pics. There's just something romantic about boats on the water (as opposed to, um, boats in the air, I guess).

It's hard to stitch together cloudy skies and water if there are any reflections involved. You picked a rough topic for your first stitch.

Actually I do find boats in the air quite romantic or is it nostalgic, definitely dramatic is one "tic" it is.

^Boats in the Air^ Nothing to do with the Mersey Boat Festival as it happens, more of that in just a mo........

A quick little slideshow of some more river festival stuff.
Also I think this (281kb) is a better second attempt with CS's Photomerge, this time using three source photographs.

Wow, that's a fantastic shot of the canal.

The stitched photo is nice, but the rightmost stitch is rather jarring, especially in the sky. You can actually see a line through the clouds. You might want to try messing around with the levels/curves to see if you can get the right side to fit with the rest of the scene--it looks a bit dark as it is.

Thanks Ian, I'd love to be able to say I made the album from scratch in Flash, but,,,
It is a flash based extension for FlashMX 2004 called SlideShow Pro. I only have a basic understanding of using Flash MX and XML but I found, after a few hangups and breakdowns that I could a) Get it to work b) customize nearly all of the functions and c) erm I've forgotten what c) was, but it was good
Here is another photomerge, I think this one looks a little better, though you can still see the "joins" Tri Berth (281kb)
I haven't cleaned the merged image up yet, mainly because I'm feeling a bit lazy, and I've only got another hour on the computer before going "walkabout" for a few days again.
Talking of stiched photos, did you notice that the first photo I posted here (khersones.jpg) at the top, has been stiched? I could not get the whole of the Khersones in one shot, so I took two and "stiched them up like a kipper, good and proper" said in my best estuarine accent

Stinker - that blows.

Considering they are laying off staff left right and centre (incluidng people I know) I don't feel inclined to enter anything there.
