Hello, when you have time pleases review our company?s website as below, any comments or advices would be great help to us.

http://www.sothink.com

I?d like to state my thoughts about the design first and wish to get your suggestions.

We are a web/Flash authoring software provider so I suppose:
(1) There should be eye-catching Flash/dynamic menu on main page to expose to visitors ability of our software.
(2) We use templates to make the website look professional.

But we still know our site has some distance away from those famous ones (e.g. Macromedia) and we should be able to have more content in main page and each other pages and so on?.

Please let me know what you think of our site so my colleagues and I could improve with full of inspiration.

Thank you in advance!

Going out on a limb here and assuming this isn't spam (we get TONS of SoThink spam here and I'd say about 95% of us don't give a damn about SoThink or its products - I personally find them mostly offensive, but I digress )...

  • the '8th Anniversary' Flash thing is epileptic...I'm seizing right now
  • HTML does not validate: http://validator.w3.org/check?verbose=1&uri=http%3A//www.sothink.com/
  • CSS does not validate: http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sothink.com%2Fenstyle.css&usermedium=all
  • with Flash turned off there's no main navigation menu - it wouldn't take an experienced JavaScript programmer to make that menu exactly the same using HTML, CSS and JavaScript (only for the transition effects)...no Flash
  • tables are being used for layout, you should use CSS
  • following the preceding, the entire site is semantic markup hell, it's the antisemantic
  • JavaScript is being used for things like background color for mouseover'd anchors...you could use CSS for that
  • the layout is fixed-width; on low resolutions it won't fit, on high resolutions it'll be a goofy column in the center of the screen

Good luck building a good website to promote software that isn't used to make good websites.

Start with what reisio said, of course, but also please convey this message to your colleagues: stop spamming us. Seriously. I can't think of a better way to turn a group of people off than spamming their forum.

I'm not buying that this isn't spam...
