Hey Hey everyone!

OK here's the thing- iI'm working on making my own website and am trying to get the links to play an animation when youplace the mouse over them.

Is it as simple as inserting the animation as the rollover image? or is there more to it? and how can I get the animation to be clear? (All I want is a small star to pulsate on the link font)

Any help would be mucho appreciated as it would help me get the rest of the website off to a good start!

FANX A BUNCH!

From your description I think it can be done with a simple CSS rollover using a single image. The image would be an animated GIF in your case but it's plain.

Hope that helps,

the syntax to put an image in the Asylum is :

code:
[img]url_of_your_image[/img]

And obviously your image must be uploaded somewhere. Don't use a local file path.

ok well i played around with it a bit more and still havent made any progress.
The animation does work- but the detail is appawlingly crap!
Thing is- the background on the button isn't plain or flat colour- it has a background on it that I would like to keep visible.
Any ideas?

I think i got the images to load here- just let me know people

Hey thanks man, now the problem of sitting it into the page so that it doesn't jerks to one side of the background..

Perhaps the answer is in slicing up the background and pasting each individual button onto a table in dreamweaver?

input mucho appreciated-oh!

don't you know that tables for layout is stupid ?
reisio gave you all you need. You just have to include his snippet of CSS into your CSS, and the H2 ... tags into your XHTML document. If you want to use the H2 for something else you can as well replace it by another tag in the XHTML and CSS.

We are giving you a break! We're not trying to be harsh. But we don't want to perpetuate the WWW being broken as it already is. We want it to be a better place.

First step, if you're using MSIE, get an alternative (ie. standards-compliant (ie. plays nice with the other children)) web-browser, such as Mozilla Firefox or Opera. (Or, if you're on a Mac, Safari or Camino will do you just fine as well.) MSIE hasn't been updated in half a decade. It's technology is old and outdated.

Second, when you're using a decent web-browser, you'll notice than just about anything made in Dreamweaver looks horrid. I find that most programs like that do an absolutely terrible job of laying out web pages. Tables are not not not for layout, but for tabular data. Learn to use a text editor to construct websites. Find web pages that work in all browsers, look at their code. Tweak it, see what happens. See what does this and what does that. Then, one you've gotten (X)HTML down, work on CSS -- HTML is used for making the data (the structure, the content) of your site. CSS is for making it pretty.

Thrid, just because you don't know anything right now doesn't mean you can't learn! You're young, I take it by your demeanor, but you're certainly not stupid. If you go the extra mile and work hard to learn what you don't know instead of complaining, you'll go much, much further than any of your peers, I guarantee it.

If you need help, just ask (like you already have done)! We're not here to bite your head off, we like to help people learn.
