Topic awaiting preservation: Annoying event...

Sometimes when you use the polygon lasso-tool. Photoshop seems to refresh on screen, causing the ongoing selection-process to end and thereby rendering an often unfinished selection. This can be very frustrating.

Has anyone experienced this before?

Yeah I've found it with all marque tools, I think it's a cpu or memory issue, try closing other programs that may be using resources if it's becoming too much of a problem.

Yeah, but also, windows seems to refresh the desktop and icons at time. Perhaps this feature affects Photoshop as well and cause it to "loose" any ongoing selection-process and turn it into the finished (unfinished) selection.

i've had this problem too ... if you have any unnecessary input devices plugged in like joysticks, gamepads, extra mouses, tablets etc (that you don't need at the time)
try plugging them out ... and tell me if anything improves ... cause i had a feeling that it helped me but i may have been wrong...

Hmm, I don't think I've ever experienced this. Photoshop 6.1, Windows XP.
