Hey all, I just wanted to know whether any of you had recieved this kind of e-mails recently:

(clicky)

Of course I did not click on the "our website" link, but I am very curious to know whether this link is critical or not.

This is the second one I get and I would like to know whether I can avoid getting them in the future...
Thanks a bunch for any help...

Looks like straightforward spam to me. You can delete it.

Unfortunately, once you start getting spam, it only gets worse. You really can't stop it aside from preventing it in the first place (for instance, by not putting your email address on the web).

kimson: I receive dozens of similar mails daily. No surprise with 2 domain names of 3-4 letters.

As for the website, if you're really curious, you could try it with Lynx Viewer, or make the HTTP request of the URL by yourself to see what kind of nasty trick they try to do.

Btw, what email application do you use ? Normally it should have no problem to flag those mails as Junk. Using your address book as a white-list should also help to filter your inbox.

Slime : yes, I managed to avoid spam so far (at least it was reasonably low)... Those were the days...
poi : I use a web mail called Infomaniak. I'll have a look at the anti spam options.
Sorry to ask, but what does Lynx Viewer exactly do? I had a look at your link, but why are you suggesting to try the link with it?

Thank you very much for your answers guys.

Lynx Viewer, is a kind of Lynx ( the text browser, with no JS and no CSS ) emulator. It'll work as a proxy, thus hidding your IP to the nasty website. That's a fast and easy way to have a look at the text on the page, but unfortunately you won't learn a lot from that. The best way to learn something from the website is to check its registrar informations and to have a look at the source code of the pages themselves ( by doing the HTTP request ).

The infos in this thread Cable Forum - The "how to complain about spam" guide are worth their weigh of gold too.

SpamIntelligence? Intelligence? In Outlook?

*blinks*

Nah... couldn't happen. Get Thunderbird, much better, with a *really* intelligent filter.
