Anyone know if there's a way via a batch script to close an app if it's running?

I develop apps using a simulator that uses appletviewer to simulate the apps that's launched via a batch script, and I have the bad habit of not closing the simulator before running a new sim, so I'd like to see if appletviewer is running and close it when launching a new sim.

I've done a couple of google searches but haven't gotten a good solution.

ok, how about http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/Default.asp?url=/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/reskit/en-us/prmb_tol_wqsv.asp
that little task kill programm should do what you need and it's on every XP system.
