Hey guys- been a member here for a while now and have decided that i'm gonna do a diploma in graphic design. It's gonna take me two years full time study but I'm sure it will be well worth the trouble

Not too sure why I am posting this but I guess this is a good place to use as a resource as I'm going through those 2 years and some outside tips are always welcome.

Also i am probably gonna use this as a diary of sorts of my progress. Again I guess that I am hoping that people in here will offer advice and such whould I come into trouble etc.

Wish me luck people I find out whether I qualify to enroll in the next few weeks!

Hi there MrLuvrluvr,

Can I ask:

Where are you living / studying?

Have you signed-up already? or have you made the *decision* that graphic design is the way you want to go and you're starting your research for courses? (if you're touting the idea of going, I thought maybe some of the other people here might have suggestions of what you could do, depending on where you are / what your strengths are / how much you can afford etc etc,.)

Guess I should ask then, what are your strengths? (Illustration, Photoshop.. etc etc,.??)

What are your intentions - or is the idea to get some "formal" training, learn, see what you're good at, and take it from there?

HOW EXCITING

Ohhhh can I be really *cheekie* and ask - how old are you? and do you have any other work/design experience...? (guess I'm asking if you're young and making this decision, the first-time round, or if you're giving-up work to change your career...?)

I'd love to go on a design course (though I hold both a diploma and BA degree, they're not in design...)

...Oh and I have a job

...and that minor point of a mountain of debt to overcome...

Anyways let me (everyone) know what, where, why, how etc,.

ever curious..

Being a member of the PXC I'll answer any questions related to it, but don't want to hijack this thread about graphic design and the person in general.. email me or something..

Hey hey people!

Back again!

OK well I was two weeks to late to sign up for the course starting this comig year SO i'm going to continue to work in the family business (whitegoods repairs), and then apply for the course.

Good thing about doing the course through TAFE (it's an australian institute), is that if you are going to do it full time then you can go to centrelink (kinda like government allowance), then they will pay for the course and you still get some money per fortnight.
Well at least thats how i've seen it working- it might change for each person... ANYWAYS!!!

ok well i'm 23 I've already done a cert.3 in computer graphics and multimedia; and i guess my strengths can vary. I have great imagination i'm told and once i get some drawing skills happening then I reckon i could be pretty good at design in general. I like the idea of researching a topic before i actually give it any kind of creative 'throw' so to say.

But umm yeah thats about it for now- a whole year UGH how terribly boring!!

OK cya for now gotta get back to using my sunburnt body
