Actually it's not really transparent.

I have This image which I'm going to use on a redesign of my site and I'm trying to keep the gradient relatively as is so I want to take the skyline , the text and the gradient and make them seperate images.

However to get the text and skyline to layer over the gradient nicely, I need to keep the aliasing to the background but then turn the rest transparent. Am I making sense?

Basically I want this image to overlay this gradient without looking like this

There was a post here recently that linked to a javascript hack for IE and transparent PNG's.

That's the only way this gonna happen - transparent PNG which IE does not handle properly on its own.

I would think there would have to be a solution not involving seperate images though.......

Why do they need to be separate images?

Just for size.

I'm extending the edge of the gradient all the way across the page as a background so I had to have that as it's own element anyway. I was hoping to reduce the size of the page by breaking it up to it's separate parts since the gradient is the "heaviest" part of it.

screw size and go with the high quality jpeg or do the IE opacity filter hack for a png
