As the previous one was UK only:

Short Sci-Fi Story Contest

I thought I'd throw this in for an illustrated short story contest:

quote:
FutureQuake Short Story Competition
...Your chance to have YOUR story illustrated by the amazing Steve Roberts...

FutureQuake are lucky enough to be able to offer all budding writers out there the chance to not only see their story in print but to have it ILLUSTRATED by Steve Roberts.

So, if you fancy writing a story, around 2200 words in length, on anything that takes your fancy, but with a Sci-Fi bias then get the brain cells in to gear and get your butts moving...

Closing date is the End of February, and all entries should be emailed to futurequakecomp@googlemail.com , and please mark them SHORT STORY COMP.

Good luck and get started!

More info on them here:

Steve Roberts has been doing some sterling work for 2000AD recently - here is his Wikipedia entry:

No great prizes but your story will be in print and getting it illustrated.

That sounds really cool. I've always loved the artists that have come out of 2000AD.
However right now I'm busy working on outlines and plot ideas so I can participate in National Novel Writing Month this November. It's more of a personal challenge for me. I've never done anything more than a few short stories, and a couple of exceptionally obscure comic book scripts. Otherwise a sci-fi short story would be right up my alley.
Keep those sci-fi and horror heads ups coming tho Emps, it gives me hope.

Hmm... no fine print? I like to know the details.

I took it upon myself to write an ultrashort (my new term for sub2k narratives) Sci Fi story that I just happened to put online last night. I'm wondering if I should send this in just for kicks...

I forget who wrote it, but is was billed as the shortest sci-fi story ever written; "The last man on Earth sat in a locked room. There was a knock at the door."
