I am absolutely dumbfounded. Your ignorance and complete lack of any possible valid point are simply numbing...

I really can think of anything to say to this. I guess i could point out this sight is hocking a book by one of the many nut jobs that come on Coast to Coast. Jade if you want anyone to take you seriously in your arguements you need to find non-biased sources of news and information.

This unique observatory is of monumental valuable information for study of the comos and the fact that it is run by the jesuits/vatical leaves no imporession on you at all.?..Figures...that would be your response... Talk about a completly closed mind, just what you accuse me of.

In another thread, jade, you stated that you don't resort to name calling. It is my opinion that the above quote it tantamount to name calling. Stating that the rest of us are "spoon fed by..." is not a very nice way to say whatever you are trying to say.

Carl Sagan was a Physicist. He was not really an astronomer, and he certainly wasn't an astrologist. I will assume you just got confused and typed the title wrong.

From your second post, I gather that you think that people who are strongly religious doing actual science is unusual and we should be impressed that any religious person would want to investigate science with an open mind.

I'd like to point out that the list of scientists with a deep understanding of religeon is far too long to inumerate here (I would also probably make a rather boring read). So, I doubt that anyone else here will get any deep insights from your pointing out that there is a group of religious people engaged in scinetific research. May I ask, what exactly was the point of this thread? What did you expect others to get from the article you posted?

It seems to me that the point that DL-44, WebShamon, NoJive, and many others have been trying to make is that you don't seem to approach any scinetifically derived information with anything that even approaches an open mind. They have asked you numerous times to show facts that will back up your stated beliefs. As far as I have seen you have never provided any evidence to substatiate your statements, nor have you, other than in this thread, given any indication that you believe there is any validity to a scientific point of view.

If the point of posting this link was to say to the rest of us, "See it is possible to have both a religious and a scientific view of the universe", my response to you is, "Yes, that's right. That is what a number of people here have been trying to say to you for a long time. Now please bring that view, along with a willingness to back up you next statement with facts, to any other conversation you choose to participate in here."

Maybe I was trying get anti-christian believers to see that much good can come from Christians too (especially a sect that is considered an evil instituion who practices mind control) as opposed to an athestic scientist.. Facts in posts are not needed to back up a statement as we would all be guilty of doing this on many threads...There is much baloney fodder on this site so....why are you picking on me... ...Name calling???? I do respect science in light of God...To me...God is Science..Science is God....

It appears Mt. Graham is of sacred importance to the San Carlos Apache and the site of ancestral burial grounds. The observatory has been built despite their protests and they have now been required to obtain permits to pray in the area.

Yes, "much good" has come from the Christians once again.

Ok.. One more post and I promise to go away....I live in subdivison here in Houston called Sageglen. I found out from my real estate friend that the house that I own was built on land that belonged to a certain tribe of indians. I forgot the name...so..in the advancing of a more civilized world in the name of science and technology this will occur too. They built a building on a cemetary near downtown that my granfather was buried on... Most of the plots were very old and many family members did not respond to the letters that asked if they wanted they could move the remains of their family members. They built the buliding anyway over remains that had probably already became one with the soil. All that was left of my grandfather was a part of his lapel from his suit, some hair and a some bones.

Oh my word your hypocrisy and self-contradiction knows no bounds.

Just remember that you said this, when one day it is the vatican that is in the way of the advancing of a more civilized world, and you are up in arms over your people's sacred site.

You are right. Carl Sagan had a doctorate in astronomy and astrophysics. I had been thinking that he had a degree in bio-physics, but, I went back and looked it up and he did have a degree in astronomy.

From the view point that you often feel attacked in this forum, I can understand why you would point this out. However, I don't think anyone here is saying it is not possible for Christians to produce anything good, or for them to be good scientists. Also, if you will look into your statement about "athestic scientists"[sic] you will find that more scientists have a deep belief in God than those who don't. Again, a complete list of religious scientists would be out of place here, but, if you read a little history you will find that scientist such as Tycho Brahe, Copernicus, Scaliger, Galileo, Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein, Richard Feynman, etc all had deeply held religious beliefs.

I am surprised to hear you call the Jesuits a sect and even more surprised to hear you say they are considered an "evil institution". I have never heard them referred to with anything but respect. They are, as far as I know, considered to be the intellectual wing of the Catholic church and are highly respected for their scientific research.
