You might need to adjust your gamma settings for Photoshop - so they look like what save for web's renderings look like.

If your color setting have been adjusted to your liking. It sould like your View-->Preview Set-up is check to something other then monitor. Photoshops "Save for web" displays color as it would display on the Web, in most cases browsers don't support embeded color profiles. So yy choosing View-->Preview-->Monitor you are effectivly turn off photoshops color management. Keep in mind the color is still effected by any system level color profiling, ie. mac system calibration, most calibration hardware, our your graphics card gamma and monitor controls.

View-Proof Setup is the same thing. Proof color should be turned on or else View->Proof Setup has no effect. You should choose monitor RGB, as window or Macintosh RGB simulate the default CRT gamma of the specified OS. The Mac being slightly brigher then Windows in general.

Here's what the Photoshop manual has to say.

Macintosh RGB or Windows RGB (Photoshop and Illustrator) Creates a soft proof of colors in an image using either a standard Mac OS or Windows monitor as the proof profile space to simulate. Both options assume that the simulated device will display your document without using color management. Neither option is available for Lab or CMYK documents.

Monitor RGB (Photoshop and Illustrator) Creates a soft proof of colors in an RGB document using your current monitor color space as the proof profile space. This option assumes that the simulated device will display your document without using color management. This option is unavailable for Lab and CMYK documents.
