Are there any semi pros here who can recommend a good camera for high quality use on the computer, without paying more than $500-$600?

Thanks

Sorry to completely disregard your topic, localboy, but I must ask when you're going to add St. John's Wort, colloidal silver, or homeopathy to your sig? I only ask, as regardless of one's opinion on these contraversial (ie- ineffective) treatments, they are at least already established and widely known.

Almost everything surrounding the marketing of glyconutrients appears to be based on poor science, a fundamental misunderstanding of biology/physiology, or downright fraudulent and unproven claims.

While it might seem a little troll-like of me to hijack your thread, I can't help thinking that you're deliberately posting around the place in order to spread those sig links on behalf of a company that would, in a fair world, be given a legal kick in the danglies followed by a bankrupting dig to the jaw. It has, in fact, already faced suits regarding it's fraudulent and misleading claims, and much of its so-called 'science' is widely dismissed as crap by real scientists!

I put it to you, sir, that you are a spam-artist, and trolling on behalf of that company!

J'accuse..!

I am a 22 year old kid and I bought my mother her first digital camera this last year, a Fujifilm FinePix S5600 because I liked the 10x optical zoom for taking pictures of wildlife (that you can't get close to). I got it online new for a good deal, but am wanting to let me family keep that one, while I get a new higher quality one. In reading reviews on cameras...there always seems to be positives and negatives on them all, so it is hard to decide.

At this time, I don't see where I would need to buy a real expensive SLR though like some of my buddies have. I am new to ozoneAsylum, but after seeing some of the uploaded pictures, I decided to join the group. I didn't think that there would be any problem with listing my personal site that I am proud of. Sorry White Hawk.

Hi localboy and welcome.
I had a Fuji similar to the one you have given to your mother and it too gave me a taste for more. It sounds to me like you may now "need" an SLR type of DC, for more control and interchangable lenses.

It helps if you can say what it is you want out of a camera, full auto, manual, interchangable lenses and so on and on. Have you had a look at DP Review I found it very useful to check what was out there at a price I could afford and then to compare features. If you have not done so already go to the buying guide on that page and do a "feature search". I did a quick one at the upper price you mentioned and I left all the other choices at "Don't Mind" and the search came back with seven cameras that you could do a side by side feature check with.
They were:

quote:
Samsung GX-1L, Olympus E-500, Pentax K110D, Olympus E-300, Canon EOS 350D / Digital Rebel XT, Samsung GX-1S, Nikon D40

Then I suggest when you have a better idea of what kind of features you want, you have a chat with a local supplier, sometimes these places can hook you up with a good deal.

Good luck out there and be sure to come and post up some of your photos when you get the chance.

My apologies, localboy. I have bad spells. Please forgive me for being so rude, as I haven't the right to dictate what you can and cannot do here, or anywhere. My opinion of the subject matter is irrelevant.

wow, great. http://www.dpreview.com looks like the kind of resource that could really help me. Maybe I can get my girlfriend to get me an SLR for my birthday. Thank you all for your assistance. Feel free to post more comments here if anyone has any strong recommendations.
