Thought some of you might be interested in the latest circus regarding DRM... with a web community refusing to help the community site keep to the law:

- The start <uri:http://blog.digg.com/?p=73>
- The ending <uri:http://blog.digg.com/?p=74>
- What happened in between <uri:http://www.worddissociation.com/2007/05/02/09-f9-11-02-9d-74-e3-5b-d8-41-56-c5-63-56-88-c0/>
- And again more... <uri:http://blog.skyzyx.com/2007/05/01/proof-that-the-youth-are-revolting/>
- And it made BBC News front page too... <uri:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6615047.stm?ls>
- And follow up <uri:http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/6623331.stm>

Note: Kevin Rose posted the actual code on the Digg blog - they no longer have the protection of claiming to only be a site providing user provided content mostly in the form of references to offsite resources. There is a real danger that is enough for AACS-LA to be able to kill Digg for breaking the DMCA, if they take it further.

What a joke - as if removing it from blogs will remove it from the web.
That's like shutting the original Napster down and thinking P2P would die as well.

DRM is a dinosaur and needs to go extinct.

It has been proven not to work, and only hampers and prohibits honest customers from being able to play their games, music, videos, etc.

DRM has had no noticeable effects on pirates at all. In fact, it has had the opposite effect, of making honest customers into experienced rippers by forcing them to learn copying methods to copy their own games, music, videos, etc for their own use.

Note that I am only talking about ways to encrypt digital information, not that actual rights and management of such.

Man, that has got to be one of the funniest and at the same time, most ludicrous thing I have ever seen!

A simple hexidecimal code, that has enough meaning and importance to be printed onto a T-shirt!

That has to be a first!
