So if you live on the northern hemisphere it's autumn right now! And it's beautiful. Lets see some nice colorful pictures of it

I hope I'm not breaking the rules too much by posting 500px wide images

Err took this one today in the dark with long exposure and photoshopped the colors but I assure you - those tiny trees there, they um really are a little more colorful than usual

The reason that rule is in place is so that the threads don't get too large, either in terms of physical size or file size. Yes, it's a somewhat arbitrary distinction, and there probably isn't that much of a difference between 450px and 500px, but when things start to slide, they often continue to slide. There's also a 40k limit, and both of your photos go way beyond that.

The idea is to post thumbnails or links in the thread, not the actual pics themselves. Thus 450px (and, more importantly, 40k) should be more than enough. So, in the future, you might want to stick with thumbs or just links to the larger pics. Most importantly, though, 500 px in width is not nearly enough to do justice to your photography. I know I'd like to see those beautiful shots in much more detail (especially that second one... if it were big enough I'd make it my desktop background).

(Unfortunately, we cannot just let this infraction slide. Please report to the basement for genital shock therapy.)

Oh, and lest it seem that I posted simply to be a party pooper (yet again!), here's my contribution:

First Color

Yesterday was actually the first day we saw any real color around here. In the coming week I should hopefully get more shots.

(By the way, I wasn't kidding about using the second one as a background. My desktop size is 1280 x 1024. )

Sorry... no autumn colour here in the tropics... just green and greener, as the build up to the wet season sets in

I'm not accepting any excuses.

You will get your butt off that chair, go outside right now, make the damn sky pour some rain and find a guy who's willing to spill yellow and red paint on himself ... in the rain. And I'll tell the security to not let you in without that picture. Extra points for muddy ground. Now if thats not autumn then nothing is.

I really should have a photo in this weeks but I've just not managed to access most of my "nature" photographs. So here by way of a slight diversion is the most welcome visitor to my garden come Autumn and Winter. He or she (as they both have the same colourful markings) stays bright and full of song whatever the weather or season.
This little fella follows me about the garden watching for any goodies I might dig up or perhaps might share from my lunch.
Smelling the remaining scent from the sweet peas and listening to his chirruping beautiful song is a joy that lifts my spirit at this time of year.

Ah ha! I found one taken this week. We used to call these seeds whirly birds when I was a lad. Actually Autumn has a lot of powerful childhood memories, playing conkers, finding and eating roasted chestnuts, toffee apples, kicking the leaves that fall and collect in large mounds to name but a few.
