Ok, this won't be an easy one for me - but it's required.

I have come to accept myself with qualities and limits : I can analyse code in any language quick, I know my shit,
but I am not Superman. Wouldn't like to be a guy who wears his panties ABOVE his pants, for one,
and Batman is worse.

He wears a belt.

...With this in mind : what about turning the grail into an Open Source project? One hosted at sourceforge, subversionned,
and with defined roles for EVERYBODY around, wether as testers, advisors, builders, graphic artists, etc..

Main reasons for the proposal :
-----------------------------
1) There are a few things that may be improved around here - namely, the sink stinks and this is lost information. AND priceless information at that.
The search is good, but not good enough - too much stuff to dig through many results of a quick search.
2) Other BB software on the market is either quirky, or incomplete, or good but expensive, and it does not benefit the expertise of Mad Scientists.
3) Open Sourcing is not a LOSS, especially for free software : it is ADDED VALUE, think of how good you would look as the "lead coder" or "lead artist" on such a large scale project?
And think about the amazing progresses of Linux or Firefox in a short amount of time.
4) The application that the grail currently is is just too big for one person to take the maintenance charge alone.

There are no hidden motives, but there are other reasons for the request - which should be adressed one by one as questions arise
(matter of details that do not need to be summed up in the big picture).

(expects strong reactions, but counts on the intelligence and knowledge of people around enough to DO propose the concept).

It's a nice idea, but you better ask the owners first, i think

I think it was tyber that coded most of this?

Well, that's pretty much the point of this discussion you see - asking I think I should propose to both the coders
and the crowd : it's just that, a proposal, but it's good to see which feedback comes either way.

It could get to be the "fittest of fittest BB softwares", and create careers and byproducts in the process,
but mostly, it could get to be as extremely funny and flexible as www.ozones.com and other sites from inmates. Among benefits -
recently there was the question "do web users today still use bbs and forums?"

They do of course. But I just got to visit a vBulletin and it has evolved - A LOT. Faster than the Asylum can in it's current state.

One more reason to propose this : protecting this place from "Ipod Iphone" spams and the likes. Spammers are turning into robots,
might as well counter them using something similar.
