Some of you might recognize the thread title... But then that was almost 5 years ago now, and most of us have slept since then. I just went back and re-read a couple of those threads... Little bit of a mind-trip

Anyways, Starship Traders is long gone, but I started playing another (fairly similar) game a few weeks ago (work was slow right before the holidays, and I had some time to kill).

This one is called Chosen Space. It's a browser-based (works fine in FF, but it prefers IE) space trading/combat game. It's version 2 (version 1 is still alive on the site and you can play it, but it's older, and v2 was built off it to fix problems and mistakes and such). I have an account in v1 also (started it a couple days ago), but I don't play it hardly, mainly I started that one just out of curiosity.
V2 is still also under development, so it's not 100% implemented yet, and slight changes are still being made to the existing code. That said, there's no combat yet (the attack scripts are supposed to be deployed pretty soon, within a couple weeks probably). So right now you don't have to worry about being killed by a big ship randomly passing by.

If anyone remembers SST, this one has tons more items to buy/trade/sell, 100's of ships (not all exist yet since there's still a limit on the size ships can be right now), from mining ships to freighters to pirate ships to warbirds to scouts. No confusing randomly scattered galaxies to try and map this time either Just 1,440,000 grids in a big square.
You can also run for president on planets (haven't tried this yet though).

It's not an all-consuming game either. You only get 1 "turn" per minute, max of 1500 saved up at a time. It costs 1 turn to go between grids, about 10 to go to adjacent sectors, and roughly 100 to jump between adjacent systems. All these depend on your ship though. You can easily spend all 1500 turns in less than a half hour, or spread them out over the day.

Anyways, enough of me trying to sell the game
If anyone's is interested, I've teamed up with a couple other guys in there and we have a small faction going called "Order of the Gorgon's Eye". By no means the biggest or best (yet), but laid back and easy-going.

If anyone is interested in playing, Here's the site.
If you do want to play, drop your captain name here and I'll get you in our faction. We have a couple upgraded ships (they cost and arm and a leg) that we could probably hook a couple people up with.

I'm going walkabout to-day for perhaps a week and I don't think I'll get much time near an internet connection but when I do I'll definitely check this out. Thanks for the link Lord_Fukutoku.

reisio, the 'ref' is my player id. You get "bonus points" if someone registers that you referred. That's not the intent of this post though, it's only 100 points for referring new players and you make that much by default each day by sitting and doing nothing (about 4 points per hour). If you really want lots of points quickly, you can donate to help offset server costs etc, and you get 1000 points per $ you donate. You can do plenty well though playing for free, as most players do.
I just used that link because, hey, 100 more points is better than nothing

Tao, no problem. Have a good time.

Also, for anyone who remembers SST, you can't have 10-20 accounts in this game Just one. People have been booted already for multiple accounts. You can have as many ships as you want (or can afford), but you only get the same 1500 turns per day to split between them.

That's pretty much what I figured when I made that reply.

Yea, I didn't even think about it being suspicious until I saw saw your post.

No worries if you use the link or not. Without the 'ref'.

There doesn't seen to be quite the interest that there was before, but if anyone is interested, drop a line here or in-game (my name is 'Bulldozer').
