As I look for a new web host, harder than I thought to find one, I'm making changes to the site..want to keep it simpler. I used to keep a blog and 4 photogalleries (1 in coppermine and 3 in pixelpost). I want to eliminate all the 4 galleries and use the blog as a gallery - less hassles if i need to migrate and lots less hassles keeping themes consistent over all that CMS software and static html pages too.

This is what I managed to do with lots of php hacking:

Any feedback, not on the photos, on the layout would be welcome.

thx

it looks a little strange but I can't put my finger on what's wrong ... probably composition ...

I like http://www.sleepingwolves.com/blog/ more. 'expandable' thumbnails are nice...

OT: what kind of camera do you have?

You lose a *great* deal by doing this IMO.

With a blog as your gallery, the viewer will have no idea how much great photography is there to see. The scope of a visit will be severely limited.

If you were going to have a large amount of blog postings with a minimal amount of photography, this would be the approach to take. It seems that your site will be the opposite...which will require the opposite approach.

I can't imagine why you would need 4 separate galleries with multiple software solutions for them...but you really need a full blown photo gallery set up of some sort to present this as it deserves, IMO.

What are you looking for in a host, and what difficulties are you having finding one?

As an alternative ... what do you think of the solution I came up with on my site. I haven't updated it in a while >< A blog and a gallery on the same page ... I got rid of most of the blog features as I felt I didn't need them. Of course my site is very minimalistic and this could be done in slightly different ways.
