Does anyone still participate in this topic?

Levels of participation have been very low for quite some time for all the usual reasons. Since April there has been no contest as you can see.
I think perhaps there are not enough people interested enough in the art of the sig to propagate a contest, time will tell.
From a personal perspective, I love the craft involved in making a really good sig. It's just that so far this year I've had very little time to play in Photoshop, couple that with my erratic on-line-ness and you have the reason I have not contributed.

I would probably participate if someone came up with a topic, but I'm not too keen on being the only entry in a contest and winning by default. Perhaps we are in a lull, and after a brief respite the big sig contest will return to its former glory. Or perhaps we are entering a new phase in the history of the Asylum, where the big sig contest is just a fond memory. To be perfectly honest, if it is just going to be a few people batting sigs back and forth, I'd rather let it die. We'll see how it goes. Maybe I'll feel differently later.

Indeed it is. Do tell!

I feel the same as you Master Suho ~can you stop giggling you lot lurking in the cheap seats~
Perhaps we could get Human Shield to pick a topic as he mentioned starting it off.

It's nice to see some of the same old names still posting, things still seem to be going strong, etc, etc. I was happy to see my ***Big Sig Approaching*** was still about and seeing use.

If I tell you more of the "The dark winter nights" will you go easy on me with the electric cosh when next I need therapy?

I didn't start the sig contests, but there was a time long ago when all I ever did was make sigs for myself. I made a new, giant sig (the one I use now, but twice as large) and posted it in a new thread that I titled "***WARNING*** BIG SIG APPROACHING". Eventually, someone suggested that since several of us enjoyed making sigs so much, maybe there should be a forum for it. The Doc was kind enough to create one, and he took the title of my post and made it the name of the forum, and gave moderatorship to several of us that were big into sigs. So that's what I meant by "my ***BIG SIG APPROACHING***."

It used to be that this forum was just about people posting to show off their new sigs or get advice on a sig they were working on. I don't know when the contests started, or when they became the entire focus of the forum.

er, anyway if you guys need a contest for inspiration for sigs, I'll try to think of something.

Make a sig that involves machinery blending with nature.

Thanks for the back-story (Tao goes all Hollywood) Human Shield, I've oft wondered where the title came from and why. I like your idea for a topic too.

Master Suho, It's a deal. I'll dig out the journal. Names may be changed to protect the guilty.

After discovering that I had all my old sigs on a server which mysteriously got shredded... well, I'd be up for something. And if it's just to get me a new thingamabob to post under these uh... posts. Right. Right?
